Happy Janmashtami: My favourite Actors who acted in the Role of Krishna-3:- Nitish Bharadwaj

Nitish Bharadwaj, who just made the role of Krishna like a Real-Life Character! I was immensely influenced by him during my childhood days! So always thought him as Krishna after watching Mahabharat. He was the Ultimate One in my eyes... I became interested to know about Lord Krishna only after watching his performance in Mahabharat. Even when I started my Blog-'Purnavataar', it was his picture only that came to my mind while thinking about the an image to include in the heading. My interest about Krishna was completely indebted to his performance in the role of the Lord. Wonderful work throughout the whole series, specially Shantidoot episode and most importantly in all the Geeta episodes!

Here I am ending the last part of my posts on the actors playing the role of Shri Krishna. Again I am stating that the headings of my posts are not any ranking or any special liking for any particular actor, it is just that I couldn't fit all the pictures and information in a single post, so decided to divide the whole Content into three posts.

Happy Janmashtami: My favourite Actors who acted in the Role of Krishna-2:- Sarvadaman Banerjee

Continuing with my series on Actors playing the role of Shri Krishna, now, in this 2nd part, I will write about Sarvadaman Banerjee. He acted in the role of Krishna in Ramanand Sagar's Shri Krishna TV Serial. Really a Great Work! I loved to watch the Geeta Episodes delivered by him! In the initial episodes it was difficult for me to consider S D Banerjee as Krishna because I was a great fan of Nitish Bharadwaj's acting in Mahabharat. But gradually, as 'Shri Krishna' progressed, and I followed it regularly, I started loving the performance of S D Banerjee. He has delivered all the scenes with Great Sincerity and Great Emotion!!! As we think about the Emotional and Blissful element in the Lord- that have been brought forth by S D Banerjee in a Nice Way! In comparison to earlier episodes, I loved his performance more in all the later episodes of the serial (much much more than the initial episodes ). I feel, gradually he got control over the role of the Lord after a few episodes and after that delivered all the dialogues of Shri Krishna with such Ease that I always feel blessed whenever I watch him on screen.

Another point i want to mention here- Sarvadaman Banerejee has done an Excellent performance in a Sanskrit movie based on the life of the great sage Adi Shankaracharya(Movie has the same name)... there he is just Awesome!!! I loved his performance! The Knowledge and the Devotion- both have been present in him throughout the whole film... Indeed a great film to watch!

His Dedication towards his work makes his works (films/serial) truly worth watching!

Happy Janmashtami: My favourite Actors who acted in the Role of Krishna-1

On this auspicious day of Janmashtami, I decided to write about the actors who played the role of Krishna on-screen and Influenced me a lot. But sadly, could not include all the pictures and informations in single post, so now I am posting the first part here. (The numbers in the heading are not any ranking or any partiucular order, they are a part of the whole series of three posts, which is the reason of the inclusion of the number in the heading)

Now, I am starting with Swapnil Joshi. He acted in the role of young Krishna in Ramanand Sagar's Shri Krishna Serial. He has done such a nice work, that he just took the hearts of all the fans with him... His playfulness, his emotions, his philosophical discussions- all are delivered by him in very very Natural Way! I love to see him on screen. All his scenes are full of the Bliss and Love which we relate with the Lord. He has also shown serious acting skill in all the scenes of deep Spiritual discussions. Swapnil has been truly the image of the Lord who is very easy to approach. His performances in Vrindavan, Mathura, Gurukul and Jarasandh, Uddhava Vraj Yatra episodes- all are Great! Truly he has made the young Krishna come alive in front of us by his Wonderful Performance!

Reflections on a Rainy Day

Today it is raining heavily here in Delhi. I was sitting by the window throughout the whole day, watching rain, because there was no electricity:) :). I was, in fact, enjoying the rain. I never loved rain, specially getting drenched in the rain:(. But today, I was at home, so was able to Enjoy the drops failing from the sky.

And suddenly I remembered a scene from a film I watched recently. It was a Sanskrit movie named– Adi Shankaracharya. It is about the great Seer of 8 th century, who made the tough Vedas and Upanishadas easy for us by writing extensive commentaries on them. Later I will try to write about the film in details.

There we have a nice scene, where he says to his disciples that “Shudhhe hridaye, sarvam shuddham” (When the heart is pure, everything else is Pure). (At 2:30 min of the video)

And after that we have some lines from his famous work ‘Bhaja Govindam’ , where he tells us to turn towards God, as that is the only way of our Salvation.
If anyone is interested, Here is the Video of that scene:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge-uHt9ib1w&feature=related
(It starts from 2:30 min to 4:25 min. Again it from 5:23 min and continues till 6:10 min.)
The following is the portion of Bhaja Govindam covered in the scene:-
sampraapte sannihite kaale
nahi nahi rakshati Dukrijn karane .. (1)

Oh fool! Rules of Grammar will not save you at the time of your death.
angam galitam palitam mundam
dashanavihiinam jatam tundam.
vriddho yaati grihiitvaa dandam
tadapi na muchchatya ashaapindam.. (15)

Strength has left the old man's body; his head has become bald, his gums toothless and leaning on crutches. Even then the attachment is strong and he clings firmly to fruitless desires.
bhaja govindam bhaja govindam
govindam bhaja muudhamate .

Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda.
punarapi jananam punarapi maranam
punarapi jananii jathare shayanam.
iha samsaare bahudustaare
kripayaa apaare paahi muraare. (21)

Born again, death again, birth again to stay in the mother's womb ! It is indeed hard to cross this boundless ocean of samsara. Oh Murari ! Redeem me through Thy mercy.

bhajagovindam bhajagovindam
govindam bhaja muudhamate .

Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda.

I was So Touched by the messege, that today it just came to my mind while watching the rain and kept on repeating itself. It was Really a nice experience!

And here is the link of the text of Bhaja Govindam:-

I added 2 photos of the Black Clouds of a typical Rainy Day at Delhi (the first one) and at Kolkata (the second one) in today's post. Enjoy:)...

My Favourite Verses From Srimad Bhagavad Geeta: 1

Today I am going to write about The Geeta for the First time. It is Such a Huge and Tough Topic that I am a bit nervous :)… But on the other hand really Happy also that at last I attempted this tough subject :)… For a long time I have been planning to write my experiences/views about various Slokas of the Geeta, but was really scrared to start it. As I know that my understanding is still in a very very naïve stage… But Geeta has so many beautiful messages that one part of me always felt the need to share all those messages with you all. The whole text is available online and any person can read the original text with explanation from any website.

Here I will try to write about my favourite slokas one by one. I don’t have that much Knowledge to analyse the slokas, so will just include the meaning of the verses and also a short paragraph on my realizations about that particular verse.

Actually Geeta needs to be studied from a very learned person who can explain the hidden meaning of the verses and who can also relate the verses of one chapter with the verses of other chapters, as Geeta is complete as a Whole. The knowledge is divided into various chapters but they lead to the Same Aim.

I know I still do not have that much grasp over the subject, but as reading of Geeta with sincerity can mould the life/vision of a person, so decided to at least bring those slokas into discussion which have always Surprised me, and have radically Changed my thinking process. I think, if we reflect on the slokas, our Intellect will guide us to go deep into their meaning.

I hope readers will forgive me for my mistakes, as I am still in the learning process.

Today is the first of this series, I am taking up three slokas from Chapter 10 :-

ahamātmā gudākeśa sarvabhūtāśayasthitah
ahamādiśca madhyam ca bhūtānāmanta eva ca.(20)

Meaning- "I am, O Gudakesh, the Self that dwells within all beings, as also their primeval beginning, middle, and end.

yaccāpi sarvabhūtānām bījam tadahamarjuna
na tadasti vinā yatsyānmayā bhūtam carācaram.(39)

Meaning- "And, O Arjun, I am also the seed from which all beings have sprung up, because there is nothing animate or inanimate which is without my maya."

yadyadvibhūtimatsattvam śrīmadūrjitameva vā
tattadevāvagaccha tvam mama tejomśasambhavam.(41)

Meaning- "Know that whatever is possessed of glory, beauty, and strength has arisen from my own splendour.’’

How Wonderful are the verses! When I read it, I always feel that if we just consider this message for only a few seconds, we will feel His presence around us always! I know this is tough, but it is True... He is the beginning, middle and end, He is the Glory as well as the Essence of the Creation! Each time I get moved by reading these verses, reading them make me feel Him all around me.

With Best Wishes,

Jai Shri Krishna.

FIFA World Cup 2010

So, FIFA World Cup is here!!! I am Sooo…Happy!!! Each time I follow the World Cup with great enthusiasm. I inherited my liking for Football from my grandfather and of course from my Dad…

This time also I will support Italy, which I am supporting since I became a fan of Roberto Baggio. Now, many new players are in the team, I am checking out their strengths and weaknesses daily from newspaper articles. Hope they win it again…like the last time.

My next favourite team is Argentina, which became my favourite since the time of Maradana. I loved to watch him play and after that started supporting Argentina.

So, lets see what happens this time. I also have some more favourite players- Christiano Ronaldo is one of them. As the tournament will proceed, so will I be able to write more on the teams and players. Will enjoy a lot!

So, that’s all for today.

With Lots of Best Wishes.

Happy Narsimha Jayanti and Budhha Purnima

Yesterday was Shri Narsimha Jayanti. In fact, I didn't know about this occasion until last week when I went through the calendar and found out that 26 May has been marked as Narsimha Jayanti. After that I searched the net about this occasion. This is what I have got:

(Source:
http://www.namaskarindiatravels.com/pages/festivals-in-india/nrisimha-jayanti.html)

People keep fast on this auspicious day falling generally around the April/May, meditate on Lord Nrisimha and seek his grace to have the devotion like that of Prahlad. In charity the devotees give cows, grains, gold, robes etc., to the poor and the learned Brahmins according to their capacity. Lord Nrisimha symbolizes Omni presence of God and His deep concern and love for the devotees as also victory of good over evil.

(Another Link:

Actually I was also very afraid of this Narsimha Avatar from my childhood, whenever I have heard the stories from my Mom. But now I understand the necessity of that Narsimha (Man+Lion) appearance,(i.e.- to nullify the the boon which Hiranyakashipu received from Brahma). This story introduces us with the Great character of Prahlad- being born in Rakshas clan, he became the a Great Devotee of the Lord…Indeed a Pious character(as also explained by Lola on page 116, while referring about 'gunas' and how to transcend them) .

It is really a coincidence that today is Buddha Purnima. I have always felt very strongly about Gautam Buddha and his teachings from my childhood. He is like a representation of Peace and Enlightenment to me. I just love to read/listen/discuss about the Philosophy of Gautam Budhha- so many Basic Truths about our Existence are conveyed by Him with so Simple Words…

Here are some links about Budhha Punima for interested members:

I am very HAPPY to share these occasions with you all this year.

Wishing Happy Narsimha Jayanti and Budhha Purnima to all of you.

VISIT TO THE SCHOOL WHERE I WORKED FOR 4 YEARS

Recently I went to the school where I worked for nearly 4 years . And I had great fun throughout the whole day. Now I will write about it in detail –

One day when I called up my Principal to wish her on an occasion, she asked me to join them in the annual fete in the coming days. After I left the school (as my husband changed his job), I never went back there. So, this time, I decided to give it a try.

Though it is really far from my house but I started early so that I can have all the fun from the beginning! And it was worth it – TRULY! I met so many students, colleagues, the attendants, the gatekeeper, all the staff – I loved to meet them all. Many of my former students and their parents came to me, they were also very happy to find me after nearly one and half years. Some students went and bought their friends also to meet their “ma’m”. I had Nice time . I received a warm welcome from my Principal and Director Sir, President Sir. Truly – who could have guessed that I would have such a nice time in the school which I have already left! Today as a writing about it – I am re-living that day, and feeling glad again!

I am so grateful to the LORD, that HE has given me such a Day to Enjoy and Appreciate life ! Truly Life is Beautiful! Sometimes you face a sweet moment so unexpectedly that you are totally taken aback by the Intensity of that experience! Living each and every moment in HIS creation is Beautiful!

With Lots of Best Wishes for all .

A PRAYER FOR THE DEPARTED SOULS

Today I want to dedicate this post to the persons (my relatives and acquaintances ) who recently left us . as the LORD had wished . we received the news of passing away of many of the elder members of our family , also some from my friends , neighbours .the list is quite long – one of my aunt , one of my uncle , the father in law of my cousin , the mother of my aunt , the mother of my brother’s friend … - it just goes on … it all happened in recent one month . so for all of them I want to write – we loved you all , and will be missing you . but we will try to control our sadness because we know that everything happens according to the WILL of the LORD . as it has rightly been said in LORD’S PRAYER –“THY will be done “ – so we all respect HIS decision . I know there must be some deep significance behind their paasing away in this particular time . HE will guide you all in your journey afterwards . we have complete FAITH in HIM , and believe that all of you will find Peace in HIS company .

Praying for HIS blessings for all,

Jai Shri Krishna

GITA PRESS , Gorakhpur

HELLO ,

Again I was absent for a long time …these days I am busy in my social networking site posts , discussions and readings on spirituality . today I am posting here to let you all know about the recent developments in my life .

Recently I bought two of my favourite books – Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran and Ramcharit Manas . since last one year I was planning to purchase these books . but recently when we went to book fair , I found the Bengali translations of these two books ! it was like a SURPRISE for me ! I was SO HAPPY to bring those books with me .

Now at first about the books –

Shrimad Bhagwat is about Shri Krishna and other incarnations of Lord Vishnu . it is written by Ved Vyas . it is said that , after completing Mahabharat , he was still feeling incomplete .then he composed Shrimad Bhagwat . it gave him the Bliss which was missing in his previous composition . the focus of this text is the Devotion for the LORD .

Ramcharitmanas – as we all know that it is written by the great Tulsidasji . in it he has sang the glory of LORD RAM .

Both these text are considered as very pious and generates Bhakti Ras in the mind ogf the reader . as I am experiencing the Divine Love of the LORD these days , so decided to read these texts so that I can plunge deep into the ocean of the BLISS through them .

Now I will write about the publisher . Gita Press is a publication which publishes religious/spiritual writings, scriptures – in Different Languages and in Subsidized Prices . you all will be surpised to know the prices of all those famous books ! all the books have nice prints/fonts . another important point is that , the standard of all the translations are also maintained at the same level as the original texts , which is generally very rare to find in translated literature .

Today I dedicate this post of mine to Gita Press who are doing such a great work to help mankind ! I have purchased from them in many previous occasions also – like Bhagwat Gita and a compilation of nine Upanishadas (both in bengali ) . I would request everyone to grab this opportunity ! (i.e.- at least try for once to visit their stalls whenever you find one ) . I am always happy to visit their stalls (be it Delhi Book Fair or New Delhi station) . my best wishes for the team for their future endeavours !
