Rain brings solace amidst long summer days

Severe heatwave condition was going on in many parts of our country since more than one month. We were all feeling the effect of scorching heat which was making normal life unbearable. Everyone was waiting for the monsoon to bring some comfort. At last it rained here recently, uplifting the mood of the people. Not only the children, but the elders were also seen coming out of their houses and enjoying the rain. Frogs were croacking in joy. The open fields filled with water emerged as a visual treat for our parching eyes. It also brought happiness in my mind. I was remembering the song- 'Hridoy amar naache re aajike moyurer moto nache re' and 'Esho neepobone chhayabeethi tole' by Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. These songs very nicely bring out the feeling of joy while experiencing the rain. We are looking forward to a great monsoon season after such a long and blazing summer.
With lots of best wishes for all.

IT'S REALLY HOT OUT THERE ...( PART 2 )

Why suddenly part 2 of a post ? And that too after so many days ?

Good question .Let me find an answer .

In my last post i forgot many important points , so thought to include them in my new post .

Well the very first point is WATER , i forgot to mention that we are dependent on refridgerated water these days , so this COLD WATER is another element of the SURVIVING KIT mentioned by me in the last post .

And not to forget COLD DRINKS also . My husband just loves cold drinks / lassi / nimbu paani , so we have cold drinks in the evening nearly everyday .

Another thing which i forgot is the importance of REFRIDGERATOR . When there is no electricity , ( for 6-7 hours ...) , then the food kept in the fridge gets stale . So all your energy to make that particular food gets LOST..., SO SAD... But it was the fact for some days at the end of JUNE .

And people in Delhi are not accustomed to use the 'umbrella' , which really surprises me . I am really conviced now (after living in Delhi for so many years ) that we , only the bengalees use umbrella in Delhi . Yes i do get amazed to think how could all these people walk without one , but the answer is that they are used to this 'hard rays of the sun' from childhood , so they really don't need the protection of an umbrella .

Now time for some headlines from the newspaper---

' Outrages Of 8-10 Hrs Can't Be Tolerated : CM '( 28 june )

' Heat Takes Its Toll As City Reels Under Cuts '

' Water Supply At Peak , Shortage Blamed On Thefts And Leaks '

'Villagers Block Gurgaon -Sohna Road As Bijli- Paani Ire Boils Over '

' No Fan , Nor A Drop Of Water Too ' .

Here i am completing this post after a long time( i was really busy in last few days ) , so the above news are not current . But that was the situation when i started the post . Anyway , to know what happened after this , just wait for my next post .

With best wishes

ITS REALLY HOT OUT THERE ...

The whole north-INDIA is under the grip of severe heat wave . It is a known fact to all ( courtesy-- news channels and news papers ...) . So , like all other persons , i am also facing the wrath of SUN-GOD now a days . It is such a great nuisance that i thought to dedicate todays post to this current topic .

And moreover there is power-cuts too for several hours also . Which means the only surviving kit for this summer contains ---
1. small hand-fans ( made by plastic or big tree leaves/taalpata) and

2. hanky ( may be a towel would be a better idea to wipe the sweat ...)

3. books ( as there is no tv or radio due to power-cut )

4. cotton clothes ( to save you from this heat ) .

It is really to work in the kitchen , but that is necessary . So ladies do it anyway .

I really feel sad for those persons who has to move outside (due to the demand of some particular profession ) during the afternoon . Indeed it is a punishment .

I won't go into much detail in this topic , but will give a hint of the life of DELHI by quoting headings of newspapers of last three days ---

" India Faces Moosoon Washout ( North-India May Be Worst Hit , Khariff Crops In Danger ) "
" Tempers Rise On Water Power Shortfall "
" Northern Greed Leaves Delhi In Dark "
" Water Woes Also Continue "
"Assembly Too On Short Fuse "
" City Reels Under Worst Power Crisis In Years ( Cuts Up To 12 Hrs ) "
" Traffic Lights Go On The Blink "
"Low Voltage Means No AC, Even Inverters Fail "
" No Respite From Mercury , Humidity Makes It Worse "

Oh yes , I forgot to mention the shortage in water supply ... it is right there with heat and power-cut .

But overall we are not in such a bad condition .May be reading these news will make you feel bad and you start worrying over it , but let me tell you --- all of these are bearable , there is nothing 'too much' in this situation . Sometimes a certain phase comes , evolves into its nature/shows us its true features ; then after a certain time gives way to the next phase . This is the rule of life itself . So all this heat really does not need worrying / lamenting over it from our side . All it needs is to get acknowledgment from us about its true nature .We should also enjoy it as a part of whole process ( cycle of seasons ) .

With best wishes
