A Rainy Day (2026)

A rainy day, coming after a long hot spell, brings with it a relief, a welcome change in the immediate environment. The casual and lazy mood of people, who almost forget about the speed and hurry of their daily schedule while looking at the unending streams of rain, defines a true drizzly day. The mind suddenly starts appreciating the beauty of the nature and the known places seem to appear as new, as rain washes away the dirt and dust of the whole year.

This year also, the showers and the lead grey sky brought comfort after an extreme hot summer. We enjoyed hot khichdi and fried snacks while watching a downpour during the lunch.

Today I am sharing the names of some songs which we all associate very easily with rainy days or monsoon season.

Bengali songs-

Srabono ghonaaye (Nachiketa)

Megho meduro boroshaaye (Nazrulgeeti)

Shaono raate jodi (Nazrulgeeti)

Ei meghla dine ekla (Shesh Porjonto)

Brishti brishti brishti (Sonar Khancha)

Aashadh srabon maane na to mon (Monihaar)

Tapur tupur shara dupur (Arati Mukhopadhyay)

Gohono meghero chhaya ghonaye she aashe (Manna Dey)

Pata jhora brishti (Chaplin)

Bodo eka laage ei aandhare (Chowringhee)

Amar sharata din meghla akash (Srikanto Acharya)

Hindi songs-

Sawan barse tarse dil (Dahek)

Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si (Chalti ka Naam Gaadi)

Taal se taal mila  (Taal)

Rim jhim gire saawan (Manzil)

Rim jhim rim jhim (1942 A Love Story)

Hum tum (Hum Tum)

Barso re (Guru)

I am ending today's post while watching the rain and listening to some wonderful music. Some days require slowing down and getting immersed in the rhythm of nature.

With lots of best wishes for all
